Equal Opportunity, Non-Discrimination,

 and Anti-Harassment Compliance Policy

I. Overview & Scope

Sambie Ride Technologies (“Sambie Ride”, “Company”) has established this Equal Opportunity, Non-Discrimination, and Anti-Harassment Policy. This policy applies to all aspects of the relationship between Sambie Ride and its employees, including recruitment, hiring, promotion, working conditions, compensation, and termination.

This policy also extends to independent drivers, vehicle fleet owners, call center operators, temporary personnel, and third-party vendors operating on or interacting with the Sambie Ride Platform.

Any user—whether a Rider, Driver, or Employee—found to have violated this policy will immediately lose access to the Sambie Ride Platform.

Legal Alignment: This policy is enforced pursuant to the FDRE Constitution (Article 25 - Right to Equality) and the Ethiopian Labor Proclamation No. 1156/2019, alongside municipal transport service regulations.

II. Operational Policies

1. Non-Discrimination & Equal Opportunity

Sambie Ride strictly prohibits discrimination in any form across all operations, employment practices, and service provisions.

  • Protected Characteristics: Sambie Ride does not tolerate discrimination based on race, ethnicity, nation or nationality, tribe, religion, creed, color, gender, sex, age, disability, pregnancy, marital status, family responsibilities, political opinion, geographic origin, sub-city/region of residence, or any other status protected under the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

  • Workplace Accommodations: For qualified individuals with disabilities, Sambie Ride will make reasonable workplace accommodations in accordance with Ethiopian law.

Prohibition of Discrimination in Ride Services

Drivers partnered with Sambie Ride operate as public transportation providers and are strictly prohibited from denying service or providing unequal service to any individual based on the protected characteristics listed above.

Prohibited Driver Conduct Includes:

  • Refusing to pick up or transport a passenger based on their ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, or appearance.

  • Refusing service to or failing to accommodate passengers traveling with certified service animals or mobility aids.

  • Asking a passenger to exit the vehicle based on a protected characteristic.

  • Using derogatory, offensive, or harassing language.

  • Geographic Discrimination: Refusing pickups or drop-offs based solely on the requested neighborhood, sub-city, or destination within designated operational zones. Drivers must fulfill requested rides fairly without regional or location-based bias.

2. Anti-Harassment

Sambie Ride is committed to maintaining a workplace and platform environment free from harassment, intimidation, and hostility.

Harassment consists of any unwanted, offensive physical, verbal, or non-verbal conduct that creates a intimidating, hostile, or humiliating environment. Harassment based on ethnicity, sex, religion, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic will result in immediate termination of employment or permanent platform deactivation for drivers and riders.

3. Sexual Harassment & Gender-Based Misconduct

In strict compliance with Article 14 and Article 27 of the Ethiopian Labor Proclamation No. 1156/2019, sexual harassment and sexual assault are zero-tolerance violations at Sambie Ride.

Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other physical or verbal conduct of a sexual nature constitute sexual harassment when:

  1. Submission to such conduct is made an explicit or implicit term or condition of employment or platform usage.

  2. Submission to or rejection of such conduct is used as a basis for employment or account status decisions.

  3. Such conduct creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment for employees, drivers, or riders.

Prohibited Behaviors Include:

  • Inappropriate comments, gestures, jokes, or catcalling.

  • Unwanted physical contact or intrusion into personal space.

  • Requesting personal or romantic contact outside of the ride service scope.

  • Sharing, displaying, or transmitting sexually suggestive images, text messages, or media.

4. Affirmative Action & Inclusion

Sambie Ride actively promotes equal access and inclusion. We encourage and support the participation of women, youth, and underrepresented groups in both our corporate workforce and our independent driver network across Ethiopia.

5. Reporting Discrimination & Harassment

If an employee, driver, or rider experiences or witnesses any form of discrimination, harassment, or misconduct, they are urged to report the incident immediately:

  • In-App: Use the Safety / Incident Report button inside the Sambie Ride Mobile App.

  • Email: Send a report to compliance@sambieride.com or ethics@sambieride.com.

  • Call Center / Support Line: Contact Customer Operations at [Insert Local Shortcode, e.g., 8000].

  • Corporate Office:

    Grievance & Ethics Department

    Sambie Ride Technologies Head Office

    Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

All complaints will be promptly investigated with strict confidentiality. Delays in reporting should be avoided to allow for effective investigation and corrective action.

Reporting an incident internally does not restrict or prevent any individual from exercising their legal rights under Ethiopian law, including filing formal reports with the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) or the Federal Police Commission.

6. Protection Against Retaliation

Retaliation against any employee, driver, or rider who reports discrimination or harassment in good faith—or who assists in an ongoing investigation—is strictly prohibited. Any person who engages in retaliatory action will face immediate termination or permanent platform ban.

7. Disciplinary Action & Penalties

Any employee, driver, or partner who violates this policy will be subject to swift disciplinary measures, which may include:

  • For Employees: Written warnings, suspension without pay, or immediate summary dismissal under Article 27 of Labor Proclamation No. 1156/2019.

  • For Drivers & Fleet Operators: Immediate account suspension, permanent platform deactivation, forfeiture of platform bonuses, and referral to law enforcement authorities where applicable.

8. Legal Remedies

Verified instances of discrimination or unlawful harassment may result in corrective remedies as permitted by Ethiopian labor and civil courts, including reinstatement, compensation for lost earnings, administrative remedies, and legal cost coverage as ordered by competent judicial bodies.

9. Policy Execution & Implementation

This Compliance Policy is fully endorsed by the executive management of Sambie Ride Technologies and is effective across all Ethiopian operations as of July 2026.
